"Cooking With Kids" is a unique 90 second feature segment hosted by James Beard Award winning chef, John Sarich, who brings a quarter century of culinary expertise to the program.
"Cooking With Kids" was inspired by the reality of childhood eating disorders. The program shows how easy it is for kids to prepare snacks and meals that taste good and that are good for them using the five food groups as a platform for nutrition messages.
Sarich is joined by kids from the Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers/Big Sisters as they create nutritious meals based on the USDA Food Guide Pyramid. Each segment of “Cooking With Kids” was developed with a registered dietician.

"Cooking With Kids" is designed to address the following issues:
1) Kids dont cook and have become accustomed to fast or snack foods.
2) Parents should cook more with their kids to educate and facilitate good communication.
3) Kid-friendly, good tasting and easy to prepare recipes and meals are hard to find.
As we talked with kids, counselors and parents, we quickly learned that an increasing number of pre-teens and teens are interested in learning more about healthy eating.
